Maruka is now adopted and will live happily ever after on Vancouver Island with her new parents, Lisa & Jamie. We are very happy for all of them.
Sweet 8 year old girl Maruka, apparently an Irish Wolfhound/Sheepdog mix, had been with her owners since she was 3 months old. She was surrendered to us on June 15 for no fault of her own. She is incredibly sweet, mild-mannered, gentle, and has a beautiful gray-black-with sable coat (unfortunately someone cut it so it has some growing back to do). Maruka is spayed, updated on vaccines, housetrained, knows and follows basic commands, enjoys walks and the outdoors but also enjoys just lazing around inside with her family. She adores pets and tummy rubs. She just needs love and attention so that she can enjoy her golden years. She also needs to lose some weight as she has not been exercised for some time and had been eating table scraps/not-prooper-for-dogs edibles. She is currently about 90 pounds but fairly small/short (maybe 24″ to the shoulder?), so this is way too much weight for her. If you would like the honor of giving Maruka the best golden years possible, please apply. No children, please, as those were the cause of her being unseated. Not yet tested with cats. Her surrenderers advised that she gets along well with all dogs, and most loves smaller female dogs who like to run around and play; however, since being with us she has played well with the two large podenco boys here and has been good with all the dogs she has met here. She wants to play with them and has tried some running around. It looks like there’s a little bear running around in our yard. 🙂
