For Problems with Dogs, to Surrender a Dog, & other Emergencies:
We understand that problems with a dog can be very upsetting, but try not to panic! There usually are more solutions than you know.
If you are having problems with a dog and/or need help with a dog, contact us right away.
NOTE: If it is a dog that was originally obtained with our involvement, you and your heirs are legally obligated to return the dog alive and well to us. Call us now at both 503.717.5495 landline and 831.239.9417 mobile until you reach one of us.
Even if your dog was not obtained via Hound Sanctuary, please do give us a call before euthanizing your dog, taking the dog to a shelter, or giving the dog to someone not necessarily qualified or properly screened, to see if we can help. Reputable rescue organizations are generally better, more comfortable, and safer alternatives than shelters for pets accustomed to living in private homes. Selling your dog is not wise either, not only because places like craigslist attract people who do not want to submit an application and be screened–which should give every animal guardian pause–but also because selling a dog you love, or that one of your loved ones had loved, because you believe it has a serious enough problem for you to no longer keep it, might set you up for legal problems later.
If your situation is urgent, contact us via text or voicemail at 831 239 9417 or call 503 717 5495.
If you just need some suggestions and the situation is not time-sensitive or urgent, and the dog was never a Hound Sanctuary adoptee/placement, please email Rain@HoundSanctuary.org and we will reply as soon as we are back to the computer, almost always the same day. Feel free to email more than once if you wish or don’t hear back, since lack of response from us means we did not receive your message.
For all other contact, please use email or the contact form below for initial communications as we are usually with the dogs, not at the phone, during the day: Email Hound Sanctuary. If you are inquiring about obtaining a dog from us, please include information about yourself and your home and yard. Photos of your fencing and yard are also helpful.
